My Diary from the Trenches

Day 59

July29

So I really made it home. Today started off great. I actually feel a lot better physically coming home this time than I did the last time. I have more energy and, even though I have the fevers, they don’t seem to be effecting me as much. Of course by dinner time I was running my usual evening high and had to slow down, but overall I think I’m doing okay. The challenging part is that I have to give myself one of my medications through IV. The home nurse came and showed me how to set it up and run it but it’s very intimidating. She’s going to come again tomorrow to watch me try to do it myself. She swears it will be a piece of cake after a few times.

I don’t have much else to report on except that it’s great to be home with the kids. I continue to be amazed by how much Kieran changes everyday and Ty is my steadfast little man. I’m hoping to get out and do some things in the coming days. Thanks for everyone’s well-wishes and warm thoughts – as always, I am truly grateful.

You are home, what wonderful news!
Years ago, when my husband’s home care nurse trained ME to give his IV’s, I was terrified! The funny part was that Jeff (husband) had all the confidence in the world and I was a scared little mouse..well, this little mouse turned into a roaring lion!
It is amazing the strength we are given when we have to desire to do what is good and is necessary.
Hang in there~ you are in the prayers of many.

    Hi Jess -

It must feel great to be liberated from the hospital.

Also, I have been poking good natured fun at Brian but in all seriousness, he deserves some love from everyone following this blog for keeping things together at home along with having to be at his demanding job (with a lengthy commute into Baltimore) every day. Those two little boys are at an age where their needs are unrelenting regardless of whatever else is going on. So Brian, here’s to you for sucking it up and taking care of business when the going got tough.

    Chip

Did Brian complain that you were picking on him or is that a genuine compliment to him? Either way, I agree, he has done a good job.

Hi Jess–sorry to be out of the loop for awhile. I finished up my Montessori training last week and then the next day, we moved! Settling in to our new place little by little—–looking forward to having the FSMS moms over in the fall!

I am so happy that you are doing better and that you are home with your family. I can only imagine how good it feels to be in your own home again.

Lots of love and positive thoughts!

    Gina
