Day 24
June24
Supergirl is going home at 5 o’clock today with a white blood count of 9,000!!!! Normal people range from 4,000-11,000. I am healthier than I have been in months.
I’ll still be blogging everyday because I have lots more to do on this journey – this is only the beginning. Tonight I’ll be too busy hugging and kissing my kids to write anymore. I look forward to seeing you on the other side
First!
So happy to hear it! Let me know if I need to bring the chair over sometime.
That’s excellent news, and I am sure that your family is super excited for you to return.
I’m not sure what your treatment plan is like……if it’s similar to what mine was, but 2 to 4 weeks off is plenty of time to make both mind and body fit and ready for the next hurdle. So, I wish you luck with that……and…..btw……I was at UMGCC yesterday for a follow up and a bone marrow……so far…..all clear, and actually returning to work in 2 1/2 weeks. I also stopped up on the “new” 8 west to visit with my bestest nurse.
Good luck-
Hey Dan, so happy for you! Congratulations!
Yes, I’ve been told I have 2-4 weeks and unfortunately the faster my platelets come up, the faster I come back in. I’ve been recovering very quickly so far so I’m guessing I won’t be home as long as I want. I come in next Tuesday for a bone marrow test. When we get the results I’ll be faced with a choice of going straight to transplant or doing consolidation. I’m not sure if this is how things went for you. I had envisioned having at least 3 weeks of worry-free, joyful living and now I’m suddenly feeling like I only have 2 weeks and not enough time to do all of the things I wanted to do. I’m trying to focus on all of the positive and know that I have a good 11-12 days that I can savor my children, family and friends before I have to start contemplating what’s next.
You know how happy we are for you!
Woohoo!!! That is great news!! Enjoy lovin’ your boys!!!
Supergirl is Homebound!!!!!
YEAH!!!! Enjoy those boys!! But put away that Supergirl cape once you get home – let her rest! If you are anything like me, you would want to try to keep going as Supergirl and get everything done and go, go, go… but you need that energy for later!! So just soak up the love and have fun with the kids Congrats!!!!!
That is wonderful news! Enjoy your time at home and rest up for the next part of the journey. You are doing great!
So Happy for you Jess!
So which one of the food cravings will you be satisfying first? If Brian is buying, I’m guessing it will be KFC.
You’ve probably never been more happy about the prospect of spending some boring normal days at the house!
Chip
Congratulations Jess! What fantastic news. I’m also curious, like Chip is, as to what you will eat first? I loved reading your list of food cravings. I know that KFC is unhealthy but I have nothing but the best memories around eating KFC! Take care and enjoy the journey home!!
That’s excellent news, Jess!!!! So excited for you and the family!!!! I’ll make my way up there soon! I promise!!!!!
You are truly amazing! I will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. And, if you are up for it, bring some fresh guacamole
Incredible progress from our superhero!
Congratulations Jess!!! You should be home now getting lots of hugs! Just enjoy your family.
What did you have to eat?
don’t sweat the little things! Make sure you REST!
Sooooo happy to hear the news, Jess. Wish I could give you a BIG hug and pick up some KFC just for you.
Hugs, hugs…
Mina
Wooo Hooo! I’ll get the soup started tonight!
Who ever said you couldn’t celebrate the 4th of July with exploding
matzoh balls?
That is great news! You are Supergirl! The strength and courage you have showed is truly inspiring.
